Kentucky Green and Healthy Schools
The Kentucky Green and Healthy Schools (KGHS) Program is a new, voluntary effort to empower students and staff with the tools needed to take action and make their school operate at peak efficiency. KGHS incorporates a two-pronged approach. New or renovated schools may include a “green and healthy” design from the start. Existing schools participate as students inventory current school operations and implement action plans to improve school health and sustainability. Recognition and awards are administered through the Kentucky Environmental Education Council in cooperation with the Kentucky Department of Education and the Green and Healthy Schools Task Force.

Kentucky University Partnership for Environmental Education
Links to all 8 state university environmental education programs. The Kentucky University Partnership for Environmental Education (KUPEE) is a partnership of Centers for Environmental Education located at all state universities in Kentucky. The Partnership’s mission is to increase the environmental literacy of all citizens of the Commonwealth through environmental education to assure the protection and sustainable development of Kentucky’s natural and cultural resources.
Land Between the Lakes Association – Friends of LBL
Friends of LBL is a not-for-profit partner with the USDA Forest Service in management of the 170,000 acre National Recreation Area which offers extensive opportunities for camping, fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing, hiking, biking, viewing Elk and Bison in the open and learning more about the stars, the animals and the culture of the region.
PRIDE (Personal Responsibility In a Desirable Environment)
PRIDE serves 38 counties in southern and eastern Kentucky. Teachers in the 38 PRIDE counties in Eastern Kentucky can sign up to do stream monitoring. They will receive training and test kits — without submitting a grant proposal!
Western Kentucky University Outdoor Leadership Program
This program emphasizes experiential teaching/learning using the Wilderness Education Association curriculum under field conditions, which builds upon the student’s prior outdoor study and experience.

National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project
The mission of NEED is to promote an energy conscious and educated society by creating networks of students, educators, and business, government and community leaders to design and deliver objective, multi-sided energy education programs. All materials have been correlated to the National Science Standards and the Kentucky Core Content.
