KAEE Committees: Call for Volunteers

Now is a great time to get involved with KAEE!  As part of our new strategic plan for 2012-2015, KAEE has revamped its committees and is in the process of developing committee work plans.  KAEE is looking for dedicated volunteers to serve on our committees to promote environmental education in Kentucky. If you are interested, please review the committees below and contact the committee chair to sign up.

Annual Conference Committee
Co-Chairs: Melinda Wilder and Peggy Nims

This committee is responsible for planning this year’s conference.  Committee members will help with a number of aspects of the planning process; from finding sponsors and exhibitors, marketing and publicity, sessions, silent auction, Books & More store, registration, and more.

 

Diversity Committee

The goal of this committee is to foster diversity within the organization and the field of environmental education.  The strategies for achieving this goal over the course of the next three years are: appoint an advisor to the board whose focus is achieving diversity, develop relationships and partnerships with other organizations too foster diversity, and pursue grant-funded programs that target diverse audiences.

 

Fundraising Committee

The goal of this committee is to achieve sustainable funding and operating procedures in order to maintain a full-time staff and foster growth in KAEE.  The strategies for achieving this goal over the course of the next three years are: to pursue grants and foundation support, offer tangible KAEE products and services that have profit potential, and create an annual fundraising plan.

 

Long term conference

The goal of this committee is to increase participation and reach of the annual conference.  This committee begins planning conferences three years in advance.

 

Sustainability
Chair: Roberta Burnes

The goal of this committee is to promote sustainability education as a component of environmental education.  Strategies for accomplishing this goal over the course of the next three years are: educate board, membership, and potential members about sustainability and sustainability education, provide professional development that models EE and sustainability connections, and discuss a name change to recognize that Kentucky is taking a global stance toward sustainability.

 

Professional Development and Outreach
Chair: Ashley Bowen

The goal of this committee is to be the provider of environmental education training, resources, and services.  Strategies to achieve this over the next three years are: increase current forms of communication and publicity to promote KAEE, become the home base for nationally recognized EE curricula and trainings, and establish a Master Naturalist Certification Program.

 

Nominations and Awards Committee
