Project Learning Tree

Since it began in the early 1970s, PLT has been recognized as one of the premier environmental education program in the world.  PLT uses the forest as a “window” on the world to increase students’ understanding of our environment; stimulate students’ critical and creative thinking; develop students’ ability to make informed decisions on environmental issues; and instill in students the commitment to take responsible action on behalf of the environment.

For many years, PLT was run by the Division of Forestry in Kentucky until funding was cut several years ago.  Since then, this program has been kept alive by many dedicated volunteers through KY PLT, including officers Evelyn Morgan, Jennifer Turner, and Doug McLaren.

KAEE  is partnering with KY PLT to serve as a state sponsor and coordinator of Kentucky PLT.  PLT in Kentucky is currently in a state of transition.  We plan to have more workshops and trainings available in 2013.  If you are interested in hosting a workshop in your area, please contact us.  We have facilitators across the state that host workshops.  If you are interested in becoming a facilitator, we hold an annual facilitator training.  Contact us for more information.
