About the Event

KAEE  is working to establish a network of Kentucky higher education professionals engaged in environmental education (EE) across disciplines (aquatics, biology, early childhood, education, forestry, geology, recreation, natural resources, wildlife, etc.). This network is intended to provide EE and EE-adjacent higher education staff and faculty to provide channels and opportunities to convene, collaborate, and partner at the local level and across the state.

Our first opportunity to convene is on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Eastern Kentucky University, Perkins Building. The network-wide summit will be 9 am - 12 pm ET. Lunch will be provided and served at 12 pm ET. Following the network meeting, we are offering an optional environmental education workshop: Using Environmental Context to Teach Preservice Teachers, 1 pm - 4 pm ET.  This summit is being hosted in partnership with the EKU Division of Natural Areas.

The afternoon workshop is completely optional. Participants who choose to register will receive professional learning experience and training in Project WET Climate, Water and Resilience, and Project Learning Tree's Southeastern Forests & Climate Change Modules. Participants will walk away with a physical copy of Climate, Water and Resilience as well as access to the online Southeastern Forests & Climate Change Module.
